We dropped anchor just after 9am in the morning and spent the day at anchor. The visibility is poor with the ships around cloaked in fog or smog. The weather was reasonably warm though so you could spend time on deck. Later in the day there was some sun, although the visibility didn't improve. It's amazing how much chatter there in on the radio when the ship dropped anchor. I thought the third officer was showing a lot of patience as he continued to call the pilot station, and received no response. We found out at dinner that we will be leaving the anchorage just after midnight. I think we'll skip this transit into Shanghai. Today's picture is of the pedestrian mall being built in Qingdao for the Olympics. It's quite a beautiful building with planter boxes around and lovely wide sidewalks.
